DEVENS — Applewild School will open a satellite campus in Devens in September.

Applewild at Devens, 27 Jackson Road, will feature a year-round preschool and child care for ages 3 and 4, and will also serve as a transportation and activity hub for kindergarten through Grade 8 students attending Applewild in Fitchburg.

Applewild at Devens will feature the same preschool and child care curriculum available at the Fitchburg campus, with plans to open a kindergarten in fall 2015. The preschool at the new facility will offer enriched literacy, science and math programs; an art studio; yoga, music and movement; and outdoor exploration and gardening.

“Our decision to open the preschool and child care center is a direct result of the immediate success of the preschool on the main campus, opened just one year ago. For K-8 Applewild School families, it will be a convenience to those who live along the Route 2 corridor, providing safe and reliable transportation to and from the main campus and serving as an after-school center,” Head of School Christopher B. Williamson said in announcing the Devens campus.

Applewild at Devens will provide before- and after-school care and activities for Applewild kindergarten through Grade 8 students. After-school care will continue on the Fitchburg campus.

Applewild School, founded in 1957, enrolls 166 students in kindergarten through Grade 8 and 34 in its preschool and pre-kindergarten programs.
