Parent Testimonials

Please read what parents and alumna have to say about Applewild School:

“Applewild attracts an exemplary group of teachers, each focused on the child rising to his or her best abilities.  That, coupled with an amazing Music Department of chorus and band, lifts Applewild above the best of the local private options.”

“I feel very fortunate to be both an alumna of Applewild and a parent of three Applewild students.  Although the school has evolved over the years – new faces have appeared around campus and facilities have been expanded and improved – the essential mission of the place remains the same: to provide a strong liberal arts education that emphasizes excellence, mutual respect and citizenship.  Applewild continues to provide a warm, supportive environment in which children are encouraged by caring adults to explore their interests, discover their talents, learn and grow.”

“Applewild is an extraordinary community whereby each student is offered a diverse an enriching educational experience.  Applewild instills the love of learning in each child by emphasizing three key areas: Academics, Arts and Athletics.  Providing a low student to teacher ratio ensures each student receives the individual attention necessary to fulfill his/her potential.  As parents of two Applewild students, we continue to be impressed by the dedication of its highly qualified staff of teachers and administrators.”

“We feel incredibly fortunate to have our two sons at Applewild School.  Applewild is a special place with a nurturing and supportive environment.  The transition from another school was made with ease due to the sense of family and community.  The teachers and staff are professional and dedicated.  Our children are receiving a well rounded education while gaining independence and confidence.  The cornerstone for their continued education and their future has been set at Applewild School.”

“My daughter has happily attended Applewild for six years.  She already knows she wants to stay through ninth grade.  As her parents, we appreciate that Applewild develops the whole child based on a philosophy of not only a strong academic program, but with an equally strong emphasis on the arts and athletics.”

“We joined the Applewild community two years ago, and all I can say is WOW.  The staff is fantastic, the kids are great and the environment is nurturing, stimulating and challenging.  We are looking forward to a long relationship with the school.  We could not have made a better choice for our children.”

“Our two sons have attended Applewild for the past six years.  They are excited to go to school and are given incredible opportunities by exceptional teachers.  The classes are small which allows the children to know their classmates and the teachers get to know each and every child.  They have small advisory groups, fabulous music and arts programs, 4 science labs, 2 libraries, and sports programs led by faculty coaches.  Their core classes are taught by extraordinary educators who not only inspire the children but build their self-confidence, encourage team building skills and motivate them to reach their potential.”

Applewild School is a wonderful experience for our 3 children.  The warm, caring faculty has instilled an eagerness in our children to learn all they can and be all that they can be."

An alumna offers her reflections:

I think that the most valuable thing about my Applewild education, the many years that I spent there as a child is that it is consciously with me, every day, as an adult. Even before my children started their own time at Applewild as students, bringing Applewild right back to the forefront for me, there wasn’t a week that went by that something didn’t bring back an Applewild memory.

First and foremost I remember moments with teachers. These wonderful, loving people were caregivers, teachers and mentors. They were people whom I grew to love, respect, and trust, and then miss so much once I graduated. I knew that the Applewild teachers really and truly cared; this permeates life at Applewild. People really and truly matter. I also remember the Applewild traditions and events. These are etched into my memory and truly my being. These repetitive events, gatherings or rituals become part of a student’s foundation. There is such comfort and sense of community in these traditions.

I can remember coming back to Applewild, in the years after I graduated, feeling a sense of peace, and of belonging when I ventured back to campus. This was home! This was that place where “everybody knows your name”. But not only do they know your name, they really and truly know you. They value you. They are proud of you, and does that ever feel good! I know for me, all of these things, these gifts that Applewild has given me, have made me want to do more. Applewild empowers students and graduates with a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment which make one eager to “do more” not only for Applewild, but for the world at large, for one’s children and family, for one’s neighbors, community and beyond.

Now that I am back at Applewild daily, as a parent, I get to see the many ways in which Applewild has changed and become even better, with greater depth. These changes enhance students’ opportunities and vary their experience at Applewild. At the same time, Applewild has managed to preserve all that was wonderful and special about the Applewild community I knew as a child. The sense of family, and of belonging, is as strong as I remember it being each time I crossed the front porch and pulled open that big, heavy green door.  It continues to feel like home, a place that is safe, welcoming and steady, where one is known, valued and empowered.
