Applewild School was incorporated in 1957 as an alternative to existing school opportunities in North Central Massachusetts. In its earliest day it had informal ties to the Episcopal Church. Much of our beautiful 26 acre campus originally belonged to the "Applewild" estate of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Crocker.
Over the years since its founding, Applewild has grown into a highly regarded private, coeducational day school for students in Kindergarten through grade 9, ages five to fifteen, with a population nearing 300 students.
The diversity of Applewild´s student body is one of our most attractive features with 44 communities in Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire represented.
Applewild´s location, less than a mile from the center of Fitchburg on a hill adjoining the Audubon Society´s Wildlife Sanctuary, offers the quiet serenity of the country with easy access to the educational and cultural opportunities of the Wallace Library and Fitchburg Art Museum.
Applewild is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools of New England and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.
