Tuesday, September 11, 2012 

Meeting was called to order at 8:20am by Dore Zornada.  All were welcomed and asked to enjoy breakfast and refreshments.

WELCOMING REMARKS

Christine Cline welcomed all and introduced members of the executive team. 

HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE

Chris Williamson welcomed all in attendance and thanked Chef Jeff for breakfast.  He stated that we are off to a great start.  He thanked all for their support of the parent school partnership.  In addition to the many upcoming events, the PA supports the school in bringing speaker Dr. Richard Weissbourd to Applewild on Monday, October 15 at 7pm.  Dr. Weissbourd, author and child/family psychologist, will meet with faculty during the day and speak to parents and members of the community in the Alumni Center Theater that evening.  All adults are welcome.   

ADMISSIONS UPDATE

Emily Bracchitta announced the addition of 43 new students this school year.  Student openings are still available.  Admissions is attending town meetings, fairs, etc.  Upper School students are able to help at these events.  Younger students are encouraged to help with adult supervision.  There are many upcoming events.

GENEVIEVE FUNDRAISER

Laurie Eck reported on the upcoming fundraiser running from September 17th through October 1st.  Marcia Lassila will be chairing the event.  Items for sale include high quality gift wrap and accessories.  Catalogs will be coming home soon. 

HARVEST FAIR

Aimee Dancause and Jamie Lasorsa will be chairing the event.  They spoke about the event to be held on Saturday, October 13th.  There will be bouncers, food, games, basket raffles and a bake sale.  Those interested in volunteering should contact the volunteer coordinator, Dore Zornada. 

SQUARE 1 ART

Dore Zornada will be chairing the event.  She spoke about the event and she passed around sample items for sale.  Lower School children will produce their artwork in school with Sara Sanford.   Those interested in the Upper School will take home an art packet and return it with completed artwork.  Dore will have displays at both the Upper and Lower School curriculum nights.  Erica Hager will be making an announcement with a student at US lunch.  Final artwork for US will be due on 10/3.  Catalogs will be sent home at the end of October and finished products will arrive in early December. 

RUMMAGE SALE

Darleen Lessard spoke about the upcoming Rummage Sale to be held Friday, Nov. 2 through Saturday, Nov. 3rd.  Anyone interested in chairing the event should contact Christine Cline.  Gently used items will be accepted for sale.  Families drop off items in the gym on Nov. 1st.  The sale begins Friday, 11/2 after students get out of school (4:30pm).  At the end of the sale, Townsend Ecumenical Outreach will come pick up items for their clothes closet.  There will be an Applewild logo table as well as Applewild concert dress attire.

LOGO - RETAIL ADMISSIONS STORE

Emily Bracchitta spoke about the new retail logo store in Admissions.  Those wanting items can contact Jen Raterman regarding stock.  New items have been ordered and will be available for purchase at the Harvest Fair.  More information coming soon.

TREASURERS REPORT

Maryellen Guerriero reported that the current balance is $4819.73.  She thanked all for their help and contributions.  Last year the PA was able to donate over $5K to the teachers Wish Lists and $11K to the capital campaign. 

QUESTIONS/COMMENTS/IDEAS

Christine Cline asked for ideas/comments regarding additional fundraisers.  She announced the upcoming golf tournament which will be held on Monday, May 13th at Oak Hill Country Club. 

The idea of having another 50/50 raffle this school year was suggested.  Last year’s raffle brought in over $3000. 

THE NEXT PA MEETING IS ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 4 AT 8:15AM IN THE NEW DINING HALL.  ALL ARE WELCOME!
