Third Grade Slice Article

April is going to be a busy month in third grade! Students are hoping to earn their “multiplication licenses” for their home state of New Hampshire or Massachusetts by being secure with their multiplication facts. We will take timed tests of our facts during the month until we are all licensed!

In Social Studies, we are going to research Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery’s two year, 8000 mile expedition. We will learn songs, make nature journals, and hopefully do some hiking. Being outside will give us a true sense of what that long journey was all about. Spring is a wonderful time to do some outside exploring! Did you know the Corps of Discovery discovered over 100 animals new to science during their trip?

April also brings interest-based reading groups. As a class, we have chosen three books to read. Each student has decided which group they wanted to be in based on a brief description of the book. Each group will report back to the whole class about their choice and hopefully inspire each of us to read all three books!
