Adventure Camp FAQsMinimize

What does the camp daily schedule look like?
With the exception of Junior Camp, most of our summer programs follow the same basic schedule:

7:30-8:45 Extended Care
9:00-9:15 Morning Meeting
9:15-10:15 Activity block
10:15-10:30 Recess
10:30-11:30 Activity block
11:30-12:15 Lunch and recess
12:15-1:15 Activity block
1:15-2:00 Activity block
2:00-2:45 Choice Time
2:45-3:00 Dismissal
3:00-5:00 Extended Care

What is Choice Time?
Choice Time is a forty-five minute block at the end of each camp day. After a long day of activities, campers choose from one of four low-key options: free swim, a sports game (changes daily), greening the garden, or “tree time.” “Tree time” is a quiet time when campers may play board games, read a book, or chat under the ginkgo and apple trees that edge the lawn.

What should my camper bring each day?
Campers should wear casual attire, such as a t-shirt, shorts, and sneakers, that allows for running and the occasional messy activity. Each camper is assigned a closed locker to store personal belongings. Recommended items to bring include:
• Packed lunch (to be kept in cubbies—please include an ice pack!)
• Change of clothes
• A sweatshirt or other warm layer for rainy days
• Sandals for the pool
• Swimsuit
• Towel
• Bug spray and/or sunscreen, if desired (campers must provide and apply their own)

Where do I drop off and pick up my camper each day?
Applewild is located at 120 Prospect Street. As you drive up Prospect Street from the center of Fitchburg, go past the first Applewild driveway (the Marshall Lower School Building) on your left. Enter the one-way circular driveway for the main campus (from Prospect Street, you will see a large white house with green shutters to your left). Drop-off at 8:45 a.m. and pick-up at 2:45 p.m. will take place at Camp Corral, the group of benches located about two-thirds of the way around the driveway.

How do I sign up for Extended Care?
Extended Care is available daily from 7:30-8:45 a.m. and 3:00-5:00 p.m. Afternoon Extended Care includes extra free swim and a snack. To sign up, fill out the form available in the registration section of the website. The form can be mailed to Applewild School, Attn: Summer Programs, 120 Prospect Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420 or dropped off at the School’s main office.

Can my child bring electronics (iPod, cell phone, handheld game device, etc.) to camp?
We do not allow electronic devices of any kind at camp. We have telephones in Applewild’s main office that campers can use in case of emergency. Otherwise, we encourage campers to enjoy the campus and companionship of a summer at Applewild!

Why is Applewild peanut-, nut-, and nut oil-free?
We are committed to providing a safe environment for all of our campers. Due to the increased frequency and severe nature of nut and nut oil allergies, Applewild and all of its summer programs are a nut- and nut oil-free environment. Please do not send your child to camp with any products containing peanuts, nuts, or nut oils. We appreciate your adherence to this policy so that our program can be enjoyed by all.
