I am a happy grandmother of two (who live in California) and a volunteer in my community. I live on a lake in Grantham, NH where I work for Good Beginnings of the Upper Valley helping families with their newborns. I am 30 minutes from my Dad (Sam Doak) in Hanover, NH, so I like to visit him often.
Favorite Applewild Memories:
Oh so many – Donny Crocker repeating the first Latin word ever spoken in our fifth grade class with Chick Doe (the word was “agricola”); watching Ruth Stergios conduct us in the choir and glee club; Jarvis Hunt laughing during science labs; Gus Stewart getting us excited about weather; becoming Papageno opposite Mitzi Ware, who was Papagena, in The Magic Flute!
Some of my favorite teachers at Applewild School were Chick Doe, Ruth Stergios, Gus Stewart, Tom West and Jarvis Hunt. They are on my mind more and more these days.
Applewild helped me choose the right public elementary school for my children in Acton, MA. It was all about sensing that the children were valued as individuals and cared for in many aspects of their lives, not just their academic prowess. I went with my gut feeling and it turned out to be a great choice.
