Growing Confidence: The Performing Arts at Applewild
Recently, our fourth and fifth grade classes presented the Radio Play Charlotte’s Web based on the beloved children’s book by E.B. White. Every student had a role in the production – fifth graders were the lead roles, and the original score for the performance was composed and arranged by our fourth graders. The learning that takes place is so much more than meets the eye, and these lessons – confidence, focus, resilience, patience, hard work – they will remain with the students throughout the years ahead. Characters, sound effects, commercials, musicians, background chorus – students were responsible for it all, and they demonstrated their maturity and focus as they ensured that all of the parts worked together to create a truly remarkable production. Directed by fifth grade teacher Jake Schrader and choral and music instructor Erin Schlesinger, the Radio Play is an amazing experience for our students – the production requires students’ cooperation, collaboration, creativity, and hard work… and a healthy dose of imagination.
So, what’s up next on stage at Applewild?
