Welcome Back from our Admission Office!
September 2 was my very first opening day at Applewild. I was thrilled to share this day with the 42 new students experiencing their first Applewild school day. This year, our new students represent numerous communities in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, China, and Korea. As promised by my colleagues and the returning Applewild families whom I’ve met thus far, our students were indeed genuinely eager for the start of the school year. This enthusiasm was evident as students piled out of buses and cars, warmly greeted by Mrs. Lent, Mr. Williamson, their classmates, and those who are perhaps the most excited for the start of a new school year – our Applewild teachers.
Not surprisingly, opening day at any school is exciting – but opening day at Applewild is indescribably wonderful. The day was a mixture of delightfully positive emotions: returning students renewed last year’s friendships; siblings joined their big brothers and sisters as new students; eighth graders shared their goals for the year at our school-wide meeting; Ms. Rainville helped us welcome our international students by speaking different languages, and 5th graders and new upper school students were treated to a concert-like instrument info session courtesy of the talented Mr. Bonanno. From children starting their first-ever day as kindergarteners sporting backpacks as big as themselves; to our confident, seasoned eighth graders starting ‘their last first day ever,’ our opening day was a snapshot of what it is like to teach and learn at Applewild each day. We are thrilled that each new family has chosen the Applewild School experience for their child’s K-8 educational journey.
We continue to hold walk-in open house opportunities during our ‘Take a Look’ Mornings, which the admission office hosts on the first Thursday of each month beginning at 9:00am in Crocker. Learn more about us through our new website, our Facebook page, and other social networking sites – they’re always being updated!
