Welcome to the Parents Association!

The Parents Association mission is to assist the Applewild School in any way deemed advisable by the Head of School, in keeping with the policies established by the Applewild School Board of Trustees and in support of the school’s mission and values.

By having your child at Applewild School you are automatically a member of the Parents Association, and we welcome you!

The Parents Association works with Applewild’s faculty, staff and administration in collaborative efforts to enrich the educational experience for our children.  We are an organization that exists to promote the mission and vision of the school by supporting school activities, organizing PA-sponsored fundraising events and creating an environment where parents can communicate and exchange ideas in a fun, social setting.

We want and welcome your involvement in the community.  It takes a village to make the events successful, not to mention that many hands make light work.

PA 2019-2020 Meeting Schedule

PA Events

Book Fair

Books are on display for one week. Each classroom has the opportunity to browse and then purchase books later in the week. All proceeds go to the Lower and Upper School Libraries. Volunteers help with sales and are present during browsing times.

Box Tops for Education

Families, faculty and staff clip box tops from participating products and return them to the school. The coordinator is responsible for collecting and redeeming funds for box tops throughout the school year.

Community Donation

The PA asks families yearly to nominate local non-profits to recieve funds.

Golf Tournament

The golf tournament is held at a local golf course, followed by a meal, awards presentation, raffle and silent auction. Volunteers are needed in advance of the tournament to procure items for the raffle/silent auction, to recruit golfers and to solicit sponsors. Volunteers are used in various capacities the day of the tournament.

Grandparents/Special Persons Day

This event is organized by the school and supported by the Parents Association. Grandparents and/or Special Guests are invited to Applewild to attend school concerts, view art displays and visit classrooms. Volunteers register invitees, serve refreshments, and serve as escorts/guides.

Harvest Fair

A favorite annual event for Applewild families and the community at large featuring a game room, face painting, bake table, raffle room, music, food and inflatable rides. One the PA's most important fundraising efforts, the fair requires a significant number of volunteers who are assigned to two-hour times slots based on their availability. 

Room Parents

Room Parents communicate important information to families. They coordinate volunteers for PA events and organize class parties. There are two Room Parents per classroom for Kindergarten through Grade 5 and one Room Parent per class advisor for Grades 6 through 8.

Rummage Sale

Applewild families, faculty and staff donate new and used items to be sold at this event. The greater Fitchburg community looks forward to this event and many needy families are able to purchase clothing, outerwear, shoes, and housewares at affordable prices. Volunteers are needed to accept and arrange donations, organize items and cash out patrons.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon

The Parents Association hosts a "surprise" lunch during Teacher Appreciation Week. Parents send in lunch items, assist with set up and clean up and also provide student supervision in the dining room so teachers have a day off from lunch duty.
